Evie's Christmas Present Reveal

Spinning Evie

Evie has decided that her new favorite thing to do is spin, or twirl, or whatever you prefer to call it. It is SO stinkin' cute! She liked me to sing when she did it, I think its her new dance move more than anything because she would stop spinning when I would stop singing. She reminds me a lot of myself when she does this though because I used to be the child who would spin until I fell down and hurt myself. I guess I do have a mini-me!

Christmas Eve Adventures

This Christmas Eve was pretty eventful! Seth and I had our first experience with staying up after Evie went to bed to assemble toys for Christmas morning! It was really fun to spend this time with him and playfully arguing about the "right" way to put together a toy (using directions, vs. eyeballing it). I've learned my lesson from Handy Manny that you should ALWAYS use the instructions, Seth, on the other hand, wasn't so confident.

This year we got Evie a kitchen play set that has a shopping cart and some fake food groceries. This is what the set looked like coming out of the box...fun.

The cart was easy enough to put together but the kitchen had a lot of things that needed to be snapped out of their casing and would often get a little sharp. So Seth decided to take matters into his own hands and use a box cutter to break and remove the edges of the plastic.

Unfortunately, the box cutter not only slices through plastic easily, but has an even easier time cutting through flesh! He sliced his thumb open pretty bad and was bleeding everywhere!  I administered some of my awesome First Aid skills but it didn't take long for him to start going into shock. I made him lie down right there on the kitchen floor and put his legs up. He started feeling better pretty quickly, but I was really glad BYUH made me take those FirstAid/CPR classes! This is the only picture Seth would let me take of him. His thumb and bloody pants.

After that adventure, we FINALLY finished putting the set together and here's the finished product!

She hasn't seen it yet, so I hope she will like it!!

Sleepy Cuddles

This was too cute not to share. Evie love sitting on my stomach while I lie down and we play together like that a lot. Tonight she decided she didn't want to play but wanted to lie on top of me and have me scratch her back and caress her hair and face (she is so like me in that way). This was the first time she has willfully wanted me to cuddle her like this! But I was surprised when I realized she had fallen asleep! I never get enough of cuddling with my little baby while she sleeps.

Evie Apple Seed

Evie had some apple slices for breakfast today but at dinner she decided that peeled apple slices were SO nine hours ago. She took charge by scaling me and the table and going to town on the apple using nothing but her bare hands and her four teeth. I was only able to get 16 seconds before my phone died, but its still cute!

Evie the Artist

Evie had her first experience with markers today with success! She made her first master piece! I loved watching her draw with the exception of her trying to eat the markers. Belch!

Evie at the Pet Store

Evie Looking at Puppies

While waiting for Seth to get some dental work done Evie and I visited the pet store next door. She LOVED looking at the puppies, kittens, bunnies, and birds! I think I found a new hang-out spot for us!

Thinking genious thoughts about world trade systems? Or Just watching Handy Manny? I will leave that up to you.

Evie's New Hilarious Game

Fat Bottom Girls

And I say "fat" in the most loving and endearing way possible! Haha! In fact, I love my little girl's rolls and pudge. It's one of my favorite things.  I had to get this booty shot one day when she was trying to get one of her toys out of the tub. She's grown even since this picture was taken last week because now she's tall enough to put a leg over and tip herself into the tub!

Spooning at McDonalds

I can't believe Mom finally let me hold this spoon.

This isn't so hard, I don't know what the big deal is.

Now...lets see if I can just get one of those berries. ...Almost...

                               Forget you, Spoon!

I see you in there! Get in my belly!

               You do it, Mom.

Never mind. I'll just go native and eat with my hands!
Yogurt is a finger food...right?

"I'm Gonna Getchoo!"

Evie loves to play "I'm gonna catch you" game where I chase her around the house. This is just a little taste of what we usually do nightly, minus the dog involvement, that was a first.

WALKING!!

My favorite part is when she screams "DADA!!"

New Tooth!

Finally! Evie's front teeth are coming in! Right now she just has two bottom teeth and has been a grumpy teether for weeks! But yesterday, one of her big front teeth poked through the gum and is on its way in. I don't know whether to be excited that she is going to be able to eat food easier now or sad that my baby is officially a toddler. I've decided that the first year should really be stretched out over two years because I don't feel like I got enough time to have my baby baby. Seth would disagree.

The Cure to Sore Gums...Frozen Sugar!!

Evie has been suffering from teething this past week. She is just starting to get her top two teeth in and I they are just about ready to poke their way through her gums! OUCH! She was having an especially hard time today so she got a treat for her suffering...a banana Popsicle! I was a little worried about letting her hold it by herself at first, but she insisted until I gave in. She did a fantastic job! I was impressed and she seemed to really enjoy herself. So, you are all officially witnessing the first time she fed herself a popsicle.

Stretching Yard Word to the End

This last weekend we had a little bit of time to do stuff on our yard again! I'm trying to get as much done as possible before it gets too cold. I thought that that time had already past but this weekend was gorgeous! So I'm stretching out the yard work again. Seth and I decided that we are going to do three and a quarter terraces in front of the house so I could put flowerbeds there next season. Seth dug the ground down (or up) where it needed to be and I started piling rocks. There is still A LOT of work to be done but here's some photos.

Here are a couple pictures I took of the stone walkway I built.  This is when it was only partially finished but it is all the way done now. I'll take more pictures later. I take pride that I did this all by myself and with rocks that I found in our yard and the empty lots next to us! Yay for free stuff!!

Evie and the Kirby: A Love Story

So we were having our morning play time and Evie decided that her favorite "toy" in the room was the vacuum. I turned around to see her full on bear hugging the vacuum and I'm glad I got to catch it on video.  Enjoy the weirdness of my daughter!

Grape Girl

I took these pictures today while Evie was eating lunch. She looked so cute! I've discovered that her most recent favorite food are grapes.  She "asks" for them at almost every meal now.

First time swinging...ever!

On my last day teaching in Heber there was a mishap with the store keys and I had to kill some time so Evie and I went to the park and she enjoyed her first time on a swing! She fought me the whole time when I was trying to get her in the swing so it took me a long time. After she was in I couldn't get her to sit up, she just wanted to "superman" it by leaning forward. I gave up after a minute and enjoyed watching her try to figure out what the point of it was. She started liking it (obviously) and had a really good time! In the end I was really glad we were able to spend some time together at the park! Its funny how mishaps turn into great things sometimes.

Swinging with Daddy

She was so tired but not wanting to stop playing so Seth swung with her on the swing and she really enjoyed herself.

Learning to Walk

Evie is getting so good at teaching herself how to walk and she wants to do it everywhere we go. Here is Seth helping her walk with the bike.

Evie's First Bike Ride

I love taking pictures and videos of Seth playing with Evie because it melts my heart and makes me realize what an awesome husband I have! Here he is giving her her first bike ride and she loves it!

Candy Face!

This is an older video but it was so cute that I had to post it. I have her a Red Vine to keep her from crying during the short drive to Seth's parents house and this is the result.

A Freshly Sealed Porch

These are pictures of my latest weekend project which was sealing the back porch and stairs. Seth and I noticed when we moved in that most of our neighbor's porches, which are made out of cedar, had quickly become weather worn and turned from red/brown to gray. So, I got some cheap beeswax sealer from IKEA and I can't believe what a difference it made! Here are some before and afters:
